ACHAT Hotel Bochum Dortmund

Don’t expect four star service here. They didn’t have a disposable razor when I asked, even though it’s listed among their services. They also had no HDMI cable, despite renting out meeting rooms. If you want wellness, you’re better off going next door to Bio-thermes. Check my pictures for the one star experience.

I’d stayed here before and found it okay, if not perfect, but this visit was my worst experience. We were warned that cars were being robbed in the parking lot beside the hotel, which wasn’t reassuring. I was put in a ground floor room and politely asked for a higher floor. Reception refused very rudely, saying the hotel was full, and treated me disrespectfully and unprofessionally. I was there for breakfast from about 7:50 until 10, and saw maybe 30 people. With more than 350 rooms, it was hard to understand how the hotel could be full while breakfast was nearly empty. I even offered to pay extra for a better room, but they showed no interest in accommodating me. Never again.

We were given an extra bed for free because we had a 3-year-old with us. The place was clean and spacious, breakfast was good, and we enjoyed the sauna too. The omelet was dry and had a strange taste, though. Otherwise, everything was good.

Breakfast was basic, with cold hot food and one of the two coffee machines out of order. I had to queue because a staff member was using the only working one. The room felt spartan, with grey, colorless decor, no fridge or minibar, and no kettle or coffee maker. The double bed had a tiny single duvet, and there was just one pillow, one small hand towel and one small bath towel. I found the whole stay very disappointing for a supposed four star hotel. Not somewhere to stay if you expect comfort or a warm welcome.
