Art Hotel Tucholsky

The breakfast was really good, with vegan and gluten-free choices, and the staff have always been friendly. The hotel is handy for restaurants, sights, supermarkets, a parking garage and the underground, right at the start of the Bermuda3Eck. Rooms have been very clean, especially the bathrooms, and with the windows shut you don't hear outside noise. For a central place with clean rooms, I'd recommend it. A few things could be better. Breakfast service can be slow, so get there early if you're in a rush or order it to take away. Breakfast felt a bit pricey to me at 19,50€ for just porridge or a yogurt bowl. Our coffee machine's water tank had mold in it. Staff said they don't check it regularly but would look into it. I appreciated that, though checking it should be part of routine cleaning, and a complimentary coffee or similar would have been a nice gesture. The room warms up quickly with the windows closed, and I'm not sure the standing fan would be enough in summer. Late check-ins aren't very flexible, and I was given different times from the ones my colleague received. The bed linen was quite worn and pilled. The elevator is SUPER small, and some rooms are small too. Inside, the walls seem thin: you can hear a lot in the hallway and even the pipes when someone turns on a faucet.

The hotel and rooms were clean, and the staff were very friendly. But the location would put me off coming back: it's next to several bars, so noise can carry on until the early morning. The rooms also got quite warm because there's no AC. I was disappointed that only some rooms have elevator access.

The room was spacious and the hotel itself was okay, but my impression of the service was mixed. The morning team was quite nice to us, while the woman who checked us in around 6 pm was especially rude and impolite. The elevator wasn't working during my stay in mid-June. A week after leaving, I realized I'd forgotten something valuable to my GF. I emailed the hotel and tried contacting them through social networks, but got no reply. When I followed up, I got rude responses telling me not to contact them on social networks. The person I spoke with made a big drama of it, saying I was harassing them and making other comments like that. I'm disappointed by the poor service and lack of professionalism.

The cafe/restaurant downstairs serves a fantastic breakfast, and I loved staying here for about a week. The location is very convenient, with entrances from both Viktoriastraße and the Bermuda Triangle, and it's walkable from Bochum Hauptbahnhaf. The rooms are neatly and minimally decorated, with everything in its place and a peaceful white color scheme. The entrance can be a little confusing, and there's no formal lobby. There's no elevator either.
