bon marché hôtel Bochum - Hostel

For a very cheap one-night stay, this place does the job, but it’s not somewhere for comfort. It’s not in Bochum’s best neighborhood, and at night you may hear street noise or people drinking and smoking outside. If you’re travelling with children, I’d choose somewhere else. The price is basic, and so is the hotel. Free parking and WiFi are useful, though getting online was confusing. The rooms are tiny, just enough space for two, and the beds are OK. Toilets and showers are shared but clean enough. The staff weren’t unfriendly, though they didn’t seem very eager to help. We hadn’t realized breakfast had to be booked the day before, and it wasn’t possible to reserve online, so we went without. There are vending machines with a good selection at reasonable prices.

The rooms were plain but clean and comfortable, and the price is hard to beat. There’s no bathroom in the room, but the shared facilities are well organized. It was a nice budget stay for our visit to the Essen Spiel fair, about 30 hour by car from the fair.

The toilets were clean, and the bed and towels were clean too. The showers had a bit of a urine smell, so bring slippers. Toilets and showers were on the same floor as the room. Checking in at the outside ATM after opening hours worked without any problems. I’d stay again for a cheap weekend stop while visiting the city :)

I use this hotel whenever I go to Europe. The staff are kind, and the rooms are tidy and well looked after. A good choice for a short stay when you’re on a tight budget, and it feels safe. I recommend it.
