Rittergut Haus Laer

The host was super friendly, knowledgeable and spoke fluent English. Tucked away in the room was a kitchenette with a kettle, coffee machine and microwave. Highly recommended.

I went to a wedding celebration here. The rooms we stayed in overnight were beautifully decorated, and the place has a lovely medieval style, even if a few details don't fit the era. They can host several guests, so it makes a nice setting for social events.

I liked the hotel, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. The lady who looked after me showed me around and clearly explained where to go and how things worked. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the place is nice if you're looking to get away from everything, since it's outside the city. The first time I turned on the shower, the water came out brown, but it didn't happen again. I think the pipes may be old because it's an old house. Some colleagues said they only got freezing or scalding water, too. There were so many pictures on the walls that I felt a bit watched. Breakfast is another thing they could improve: since the hotel is out of the way, optional breakfast would make a stay much nicer. I enjoyed it overall, though there are things to work on.

We stayed in the Kaiser suite, a really lovely room with plenty of space. You can see the history in the paintings and books, and almost feel it. One of the owners gave us such a warm, friendly welcome. I hope to visit again, or maybe have a party in one of those great rooms with a middle ages theme.
