BERGlässig Hotel Bodenmais

We were after an activity-focused hotel, not a wellness retreat, and that’s exactly how this place describes itself. A pool and sauna to unwind in after a day of sport were enough for us, and good food matters a lot to us too. The food was fantastic all day, the staff were friendly wherever we went, and the cozy decor and great location made the weekend even better. We visited in winter and are already planning to come back in summer. My wife was also delighted to find Rituals toiletries used throughout the hotel, so please keep them! 😁

It was easy to head out on hikes and bike rides in the Bavarian Forest from Hotel Berglässig, and we loved how well the active side of the trip paired with time to relax. We especially enjoyed the varied buffet food and drinks. The pool, sauna, and sunbathing lawn were all first class, and the staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful. We felt completely at ease during our stay and would happily recommend Hotel Berglässig and return.

The pool was fairly large, always clean, and comfortably warm. We also found plenty of drinks for self-service, and the cheese platter looked especially appealing. At meals, everything was buffet-style, with excellent quality and a great selection. Reception was well staffed and handled our questions and requests efficiently. Our room was clean, though we missed having a table and chairs where we could play games together, so we had to use the restaurant for that. We stayed for a few days in April 2026 and would highly recommend the hotel.

The rooms have a modern, recently renovated feel, and the service staff were friendly and attentive. There’s plenty of parking, with free parking also available nearby. The food choice was varied and quite adequate, and the area has lots of places to eat as well as good options for excursions. The facilities felt more practical than cozy, though. We missed having a lounge where guests could relax and spend time together. Our room also had no air conditioning. That wasn’t a big issue during our stay, but I think it would be needed in summer heat. Thanks to the BERGlässig team for the hospitality. We just wished the atmosphere felt cozier.
