B&B Hotel Kehl

The hotel was spotless, and the staff were excellent, friendly, and very helpful. Our room wasn’t especially spacious, but it was enough for us, and the bathroom was nice. The hairdryer could definitely be better. We were visiting Strasbourg and could get there by tram, though it takes around 30 minutes.

Good value for the price, with a clean room and pleasant desk staff when they were there. The desk was unmanned at some times, part of the trade-off for the price. The shower was disappointing: the door leaked, towels were limited, and there was no shelf for shampoo or other things in the small shower. Shower gel was provided, but no washcloths. It was great to have secure bike storage, and the hotel is close to the train.

We chose this budget-friendly hotel during the Strasbourg Christmas Market season because it was much cheaper than the options nearby. Check-in was straightforward, and the rooms were clean and modern. A Strasbourg tram stop is a five-minute walk away, making it easy to cross the border into the city centre, with trams every 10 minutes. We didn’t pay for breakfast because we used the Lidl across the road, though breakfast was available when booking. A great alternative to the pricier hotels across the border in France. I’d recommend it and would return if we’re in the area again.

The one real convenience here is how close it is to the tram to Strasbourg. The rest of our stay was a nightmare. Noise carries everywhere, from conversations and running water to a neighbor’s alarm clock. The corridor door to the elevator slams around the clock, shaking the walls in the room. We complained at reception because we couldn’t sleep, but nothing was done. A proper night’s sleep felt impossible. The room smelled as if it hadn’t been cleaned properly in ages, and the bathroom smelled of sewage. Calling the breakfast “breakfast” is generous: it was just a few cold cuts and cheap rolls. We paid 330 euros for two nights, which felt like a rip-off. Avoid this place at all costs. Calling it a hotel is an insult to real hotels.
