Hotel Zur Krone

We ate at the restaurant and really enjoyed the home-cooked style local dishes. There was a good choice of local wines too. I’d called ahead about a cake for our birthday celebration, and the cooks surprised us with a delicious Black Forest cake and a sweetly decorated table. Our server was friendly and attentive. The hotel has been renovated recently. It was extremely hot during our visit, so we were glad to have the ceiling fan and light setup. Many countryside hotels don’t have that. There was also a fridge with a complimentary bottle of water, but no kettle. I’d definitely come back when I’m in the area.

After ten minutes of waiting to be seated, with the waitresses walking past and not acknowledging us, I finally had to get their attention. They were very impolite, and the interior looked old and run down. I used to come here as a child with my parents and brothers during school breaks, and I remembered the nice people and good food. Those memories are gone now. This was a real disappointment. Stay away, there are better places in the area that deserve more attention.

We spent three nights here while touring the Kaiserstuhl wine area and had a really lovely stay. The staff were amazing, and the traditional food was homemade and very good. I’d definitely recommend it.

The staff are so friendly and helpful. Our modern room was really comfortable, with plenty of windows and a ceiling fan.
