Beech Resort Boltenhagen

The apartment and the impressive views made it easy for us to settle in and enjoy time together as a family. We were welcomed warmly, and although the receptionist was friendly and helpful, we found that none of the staff seemed able or willing to speak English. Breakfast was confusing for us. No one explained how the buffet worked, though we saw other guests being shown. There was plenty of choice, but the scrambled eggs were overcooked every morning, and as a professional chef I thought they were particularly poor. The bacon was far too fatty, too. We later found out fried eggs and omelettes were available, but nobody mentioned them, and the language barrier made it hard to order. A few times, staff also cleared our plates and glasses before we’d finished eating. Even with those issues, we had a good stay. The Easter fire and egg hunt were well organized and fun, especially for the children. We might return mainly because they had such a great time, though better English communication would make the guest experience much better. I first thought of giving two stars, but that wouldn’t have been fair. Four stars feels right for our experience.

The kids’ club was a real highlight, with great facilities, staff, and activities, and the morning welcome was lovely. There are plenty of playgrounds, rentals for bikes and scooters, mini-golf, a nice stretch of beach, a little shop for souvenirs and forgotten essentials, a barbecue area, and a beautiful pool complex with three indoor pools and one outside. The restaurants also had great food and service, and there was a wide selection overall, though the children’s buffet could be better. Little kids may not want sausage slices, kiwi, and grapes, and the cornflakes for younger children were missing. We had a nice girls’ trip with my daughter and granddaughter and stayed in apartment 4 of house 14. The rooms were very nice and clean, and the resort is a lovely place to relax. The apartment was good, but the stove took so long that pasta could take 45 minutes. The small toilet was damp and had very large silverfish. Since we’d booked just four nights, we set traps instead of asking to move. The balcony had cobwebs and other debris everywhere, so it wasn’t suitable for visitors. The living room sofa was worn, and given that it’s presumably meant to work as a sofa bed, a better quality one should have been chosen. Aside from those things, everything was great.

The resort has lots to do, especially for young children. The supervised kids’ and teens’ club for ages 3 and up was a real bonus, giving parents a chance to relax for a few hours. We enjoyed the pool and sauna, too. There’s a separate pool for little ones, though we would have liked a small slide or other play equipment for them. Our self-catering apartment was clean, lovely, well equipped, and felt like home. We booked breakfast and dinner separately. The restaurant was nicely designed, and breakfast had a good range of choices. The main drawback was the apartment’s distance from the restaurant, spa, and kids’ club. The resort seemed quite empty during our stay from December 19th to 21st, so with a small child those walks felt long. Apart from that, we felt comfortable and had a very good stay.

My daughter had a really good time, and we’d be happy to come back. The resort is very family friendly, with lots for little kids to play with and discover. Our apartment and the grounds were clean and well kept, and the prices at the Strandlädchen were very fair. Some of the staff seemed a bit annoyed at times, but all in all things worked out well.
