Alexander

The €4.60 bill for two coffees turned into an hour of frustration at Restaurant Alexander. Although the place displays logos for card and mobile payments, staff told us after we’d ordered that there was an unposted minimum of €50 for paying by card. My wife had to spend more than an hour looking for an ATM nearby, which is an absurd thing to demand over such a small bill. After leaving me without an alternative for a full hour, they finally let me pay by phone, but only reluctantly. Then they charged €10 and gave me just €5 back, so we were effectively overcharged for the trouble they caused. The payment policy is outdated and the lack of clear notice feels dishonest. If transactions under €50 have to be paid in cash, that needs to be posted clearly at the entrance. I’m stunned by the poor service and disrespect for our time. Pay cash, or eat somewhere else. I’ve never had such a ridiculous payment mess in a professional establishment. Zero stars if I could.
