numa I Bona Rooms & Apartments

The self check-in went smoothly even though there was no staff around. The room was a comfortable size, with a kitchenette that had a reasonable amount of equipment. The beds were excellent and the bathroom was spacious. There's a supermarket and bus stops nearby.

We had a really good time. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the furniture was well chosen and good quality. We even got a couple of coffee pads and little milks, which we almost never get in hotels. The location worked for us too, with plenty of buses and Bonn no more than a 30-minute walk away.

My parents are 70 and had big suitcases, so they decided to spend the night without taking a shower. The agent offered a 20% discount on a future stay, but I kindly turned it down since I don't expect there to be another visit. The shower drain was blocked and the toilet flooded. The shower was very shallow, only about an inch lower than the floor. My mom looked for a housekeeper but couldn't find one. The only contact on the website was WhatsApp, and the chat began with a bot. After I entered all the details, it said a person would reply in 5 to 10 minutes. The agent was nice, but couldn't do anything remotely. There was no housekeeping or other staff there to help. She offered another room, but when I asked whether it would also be a medium studio, she said she could only offer the closest available room. I booked this for my parents. I usually stay in these basic self-service hotels on business trips, but it was their first time. My dad worried nobody would be at reception if something went wrong, and I told him it would be okay. Unfortunately, he was right to worry. Also, the microwave never worked and just showed an error code.

The room felt homey and was really clean, and the whole stay was stress-free. I could do everything on my phone, from booking through checkout, and it all worked quickly and smoothly. I'll definitely look for their rooms next time I visit a new city.
