Rheinhotel Dreesen

The view across the Rhine toward the picturesque little mountains and Königswinter is unique. At Rheinhotel Dressen, the food and staff were great too.

We enjoyed walking along the river, and taking the ferry across was fun. The room had a view of the Rhine, which was wonderful.

Right on the riverbank, this is a fantastic hotel. There’s a good beer garden for relaxing, plus a formal dining and breakfast room that gives you a sense of how grand the place is.

The single room was clean and well cared for, though the window looked out at the hotel wall. I also liked that the hotel welcomes pets. It’s a quiet spot by the river, about a 20-minute drive from Bonn city centre, with beautiful architecture inside and out. The staff were polite and attentive, and the other guests were cultured and respectful. Party nights can be noisy until midnight, though. There are usually plenty of free parking spaces nearby, except when an event is on. Paid underground parking is another option, at €1.80 per hour or €19 for the whole day. Breakfast was a delight, with lots of cheeses and cold cuts, different healthy drinks, and a playlist that was very well chosen. Hearing my favourite Debussy pieces was a nice surprise. Watching the barges pass slowly on the river made it even better. There’s a supermarket a 5-minute drive away, and complimentary lemon-infused water and apples were always available. Thanks for the lovely hospitality. I really enjoyed my stay. Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
