Venusberghotel

Clean and smart, though it’s missing a few facilities. It’s out of town, but the bus connections are good, and there are nice walking routes just a few metres away. The road it’s on is relatively quiet.

Our impression of Venusberghotel was really bad. It was actually the worst hotel of our Europe trip, and I wouldn’t recommend staying there. I booked around 8:30 p.m. and emailed to say I’d arrive at about 11 p.m. I called repeatedly too, but the number listed online was completely wrong. I waited for a reply to my email, but nothing came. When we got there, the lobby was empty, the door was locked, and there was no sign for us. We waited over 30 minutes for someone, then finally spotted a note hidden behind trees. If my husband hadn’t searched around the building, we wouldn’t have found it. The note told us to use a key card hidden behind a tree, but the card didn’t work. We spent more than 30 minutes trying the door before calling the number on the note. After another 20 minutes or so, someone came. He didn’t say sorry or apologize.

A lovely place with very friendly staff, close to nature and ideal for walks or runs. The rooms are quite small, and it’s quite a way from the city centre.

The service was just great and the breakfast very good. Rooms were clean and comfortable. It’s a good spot if you’re looking for somewhere calm, about 20 minutes by bus from the city centre.
