The kids had plenty to do, with lots of playgrounds, and the spacious campsite itself was clean. Our safari tent was clean and well kept too, though I suspect it was new that season. We stayed at Borked am See with our family for a week and enjoyed the trip overall, but we wouldn't come back. The pool is small for a campsite this size and gets crowded on hot days, with little space to spare. You can also go to the nearby lake, though “lake” is generous: it's more like a large pond, and the muddy water wasn't pleasant to swim in. The bistro serving campers and lake visitors is best avoided, the food was pretty terrible. Morning bread is available, but only prebaked Kaiser rolls and plain white rolls finished in the on-site oven. Cars aren't supposed to be on the campsite to keep it safer for kids, yet we saw several driving around. The 10 pm quiet rule wasn't observed either, and staff didn't enforce it. The place also lacked a welcoming atmosphere. In Dutch, we'd call it not really “gezellig,” which is hard to translate. Maybe it's the pitches being so far apart, or the staff's forced hospitality, probably both.

For small kids, especially ages 6-10, this place could be a hit, but I'd call the campsite average overall, around 3.5. If you're after a lakeside stay like I was, be aware that getting to the lake isn't guaranteed. It's nearby, but shared with around 10,000 people in the neighborhood, and there may be a limit on how many can enter. The so-called lake is really a muddy pond, only a bit bigger than a bathtub, with no inflow or outflow. The beach is about 50 meters long, and it smells muddy. Your 10-year-old may love it, but you might not enjoy the water. There are enough playgrounds for younger children, and the campsite is decent. But almost nobody speaks English, and there are no English signs or documents. They advertise hiking maps, but none were available. Internet costs 4 euros per day per device, which feels like a cheap way to squeeze more money from guests. They should offer unlimited free access for multiple devices.

We loved the site when we visited before covid and hoped to return this year. It was going to be five of us: me, my husband, our 15-year-old son, my father, and my uncle. We wanted a mobile home with three bedrooms and six beds, but they said we had to book one with four bedrooms and eight beds, even though there were only five of us. So we're not going back now. 😔

We stayed in a cabin at this new, clean campsite. It's family friendly, with plenty of activities for children, and staff help with your luggage from the parking lot to the cabin when you arrive.

There were so many problems with this camping stay. You feel watched around the clock and get accused of all sorts of things. There's no indoor pool or supermarket, and unless climbing is your thing, there aren't many fun activities. When you ask if they can speak English because you don't speak German, they won't.
