The aviation antiques and displays gave us plenty to look at, and our kids were treated with such warmth. The owner even did a magic trick for our 5-year-old, turning a paper boat into a paper shirt. We also had two dogs with us, and they were welcomed without any trouble. We’d stumbled on Hotel Fliegerheim while looking for somewhere to stop on the way to the Calais Eurotunnel. The family-run feel came through in how thoughtfully everyone looked after us. The kids were delighted to find Haribos on their pillows, and the rooms were clean, cosy, and had what we needed. Dinner had lots of choices, with the wild boar schnitzel a favourite. Breakfast was generous and varied, too. It turned out to be a lucky find for our little family. We’d stay again if we came this way.

I ended up changing my rating to five stars because the staff are amazingly friendly. The breakfast was great, and the atmosphere was good too. My one big problem was the pillows: there’s only one type, and I couldn’t sleep for three nights in a row, so I had to bring my own. The staff were super friendly from the start.

The local food is good, and the garden is really nice. We’ve been coming once or twice each summer for five or six years, and Fliegerheim keeps improving. The service is very friendly, and it’s a historic site.

I’ve stayed here three times and will be back. It’s a cosy family-run hotel, with super friendly staff and comfortable rooms. The restaurant serves delicious local specialities, and if the weather’s right, eating in the courtyard is lovely.
