We had a very disappointing first visit to the Sommerwind Alfonso 1 holiday apartment on Borkum. The outdoor space was shared with the other guests, and there was no fence, which the website hadn't made clear. With dogs staying there too, they were all together in a confined area, and that was very stressful for us and our dog. There was also little privacy on the terrace. Cars belonging to other guests, as well as vehicles from various companies, drove right across it on their way to the exit and road. Inside, the apartment was furnished very simply and cheaply. The worst part was the bedding: some sheets were dirty and had hair on them. We told the landlord/manager, but staff didn't bring replacement sheets until several days later, and those weren't perfectly clean either. We felt so uncomfortable that we slept on large towels for several days. We were charged the full price, with no compensation offered afterward. The stay fell well short of what we expected, and we wouldn't book this vacation rental again.

Apartment 1 had everything we needed, and the fenced garden was a real plus. We stayed there with our Leonberger, Willy, between Christmas and New Year's, and everything felt absolutely top-notch. The place was spotless, the location was excellent, and the owner was wonderfully friendly. We’ll definitely return. I hope future guests appreciate the apartment and look after it so it stays just as lovely.

We found the apartment at Neue Str. 28 on Borkum spotless and had everything we needed for our week there. Everything worked perfectly, and the landlord was friendly and quick to answer our questions.

We had a wonderfully relaxed autumn week as a family in this really well-equipped apartment. The bathroom is especially lovely, with plenty of space and a built-in sauna. It can be entered from either bedroom through separate doors, which worked well for us. There’s also a lockable storage room for things like suitcases, plus a laundry room with washing machines, all in great shape. The apartment is right in the center, but faces away from the busy daytime activity. The furnishings are high quality and we didn’t find anything missing. Thomas Neteler was very organized during booking and replied to questions quickly. He was friendly and considerate throughout. There’s also a local service available whenever you need a quick bit of information. A short guide to the apartment would be helpful, especially with the Wi-Fi password and instructions for the sauna controls. Thanks so much to Thomas Neteler, we’d happily come back!
