Hotel Pension Zum Hanseaten

The breakfast was a real highlight, with plenty to choose from. We stayed on Borkum from May 12th to May 23rd, 2025, and were very well looked after at Hotel Zum Hanseaten. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we can highly recommend the hotel.

The price was unbeatable, and Zum Hanseaten is a good choice if you want somewhere quiet. The beach is close, and for longer trips I rented a bicycle for the week, which wasn't particularly expensive. Unlike the hotel on the beach, where loud music plays at night, it was much calmer here. The owners have furnished the place with care, and the rooms have lots of thoughtful details. I had a lovely big bed and a terrace looking out over greenery. The owner is a man of few words; his sense of humor may not always be appropriate, but he's still very amiable and clearly knows his craft. We got a warm welcome and a delicious breakfast. It was a really successful vacation, and I'd gladly return to Zum Hanseaten. Ten thumbs up!

We've come back many times, and the hotel has changed a lot for the better. The rooms are clean and well kept, and the breakfast looks very inviting, with coffee included. We've also seen how helpful the staff are. We recommend it wholeheartedly.

Breakfast was good, though coffee costs extra. My room itself was okay, but the TV was fixed to the wall on the right side of the bed and couldn't be turned. My friend was in the attic room, where rain came through the wall. When we arrived, nobody answered the phone or opened the door. We had to ring several neighbors before the father came, and he didn't apologize. The hallway smelled unpleasant. As others have mentioned, the owner is taciturn and gives strange answers. We'll stay somewhere else next time.
