The breakfast selection was great, and we appreciated that our request for a bathtub was considered since we were traveling with our toddler. The team were professional and accommodating. The location is excellent, right in the city center and five minutes from the beach. We had room 118, and couldn't hear trains arriving or leaving. The place is called 4 seasons hotel at the train station. The room quality didn't meet our expectations for 220 euros per night including breakfast. The bathroom was outdated and poorly maintained, the furniture wasn't well cared for, and there were layers of dust on the closet. Dinner wasn't available at the hotel, so you had to walk to another 4 seasons at the beach. We thought being able to use the indoor pool at that other hotel would be a plus, but were surprised to find stones in the pool. We hope this feedback helps improve things. We don't plan to return. The room itself was comfortable enough, with a good bed, and the bearded receptionist and the IT man were the only staff who really seemed to understand customer service. The pool was another plus. But that wasn't enough to make us want to return to Inselhotel 4 Jahreszeiten after our weekend in Borkum. Two nights was plenty, and this was our first and last stay. We arrived by ferry at 11 am, yet the room wasn't ready until 2 pm. They offered to hold our bags in a place anyone on the island could access. Breakfast was frustrating too: I ordered a cheese omelette with peppers and got one without them, and had to go to the bar to ask for coffee after watching other tables being served. Staff apart from those two were unfriendly, sometimes downright rude. The restaurant had marked walking routes for covid, but make one wrong turn and a short blonde-haired woman would yell at you. The lift crawls, and the bathroom looked clean but smelled of urine. Wifi was unreliable, especially with an iPhone. On the outdoor terrace, you couldn't pay by bank card and were told to find an ATM somewhere around the island. I expected more from a 4-star hotel. Can't recommend it, two stars for the effort.

The hotel feels old, and the rental price is very high for what it is. There are newer, better-renovated hotels nearby with good staff, so I wouldn't recommend staying here.

You can go straight from this cozy, clean hotel to the beach, and Borkum's main street is right there too. It also has some wellness facilities.

After arriving by train in Borkum yesterday, we sat out on the terrace at Vier Jahreszeiten. Two coffees and cake came to just 7.60, which feels extremely fair compared with prices on the Dutch islands.
