Oase der Ruhe

There was no feel-good factor here at all. The photos online look professionally done and give a top-notch impression, but in person the place felt more like a badly maintained private youth hostel. The apartment smelled very strong and unpleasantly of dog, and one sofa bed was unbearable. There were stains and things left by previous guests everywhere, including cigarette papers behind the couch, half-empty Coke bottles on a shelf, and nuts. The beds sagged, and the window frames, coffee machine, light switches, and other things were dirty. I can understand the other negative reviews.

We felt cramped and uneasy, and were afraid to speak loudly. The apartment wasn't like the online pictures when we entered the so-called "oasis of tranquility." We had paid over €100 for a room with a whirlpool, but were told we could only use it until 11:00 PM. It hadn't been cleaned properly before we arrived: there were two cups under the couch that had clearly been used for alcohol, a smeared bathroom mirror, and an open water bottle in the fridge. Around 11:45 PM, the owner knocked and said she'd been knocking for 30 minutes. That seemed hard to believe, since we had the TV volume turned up to 10. We got up around 10:45 AM and went back to the whirlpool, but couldn't enjoy it because the owner was at our door by 11:40 AM, telling us we had to leave in 20 minutes. We didn't feel comfortable at all.

The apartment was comfortably furnished with antique furniture, and the property was quaint, unique, and spacious. The landlady was friendly, though a bit pushy. But beyond that, it was absolutely filthy everywhere you looked. We paid over €400 for a weekend for six people. A few little things could be replaced, especially the toilet seat, and above all they need to hire a cleaner. The dirt was everywhere, as the photos show.
