Haus Schwanensee

We stayed in apartment 27, and the small balcony was usable, though the plastic plant on it was so unstable that it blew apart around us on the second evening. We had to pick up the pieces by hand because there was no broom. There was also very little guidance about using the kayak. The kitchen is tiny, so don't plan on doing any serious cooking. Getting around is a problem here. The area is deserted, the restaurant/café beside the apartments is closed, and there are no shops, bakery, pharmacy, or anything similar. You need a car, otherwise you're stranded. The apartment's entrance is old, with stained, worn carpet and a matching smell. In the bathroom, the toilet is calcified and looks a bit dirty, the shower doesn't drain properly, and there was only one roll of toilet paper for the whole week. The bed is narrow and small for two adults, and we woke up with back pain every morning instead of getting a decent night's sleep. There were no paper towels, dishwasher tablets, dustpan, or broom, which felt poor for the price. There were no amenities whatsoever. Two stars, one for how easy booking through Holidu was and one for the cleanliness.

The village has no supermarket, and with the café and restaurant closed, there isn't much to do close by. Excursions mean going by car or bicycle. The apartment itself is renovated and in good condition, but the worn carpeting at the entrance to the holiday apartment doesn't make for a welcoming start.

We'd happily return to apartment 5. It's newly renovated and very well equipped, with lovely lake surroundings, direct access to the water, and a jetty. One small issue: the terrace has little or no lighting. And if you like frogs, you'll be happy here.

A really peaceful place to stay.
