The landlord was very friendly, and Ms. M, who handled the handover and probably the cleaning too, was excellent and helpful. Still, we won’t be back, though that isn’t only because of the apartment. The place feels old and stuck in the 80s, like much of the Harz Mountains. The walls are thin enough that we could hear the neighbors and everything happening in the stairwell. There’s no dishwasher or microwave, and the internet kept dropping out. The shower head really needs replacing. It gave me the impression nobody wants to put more money into the property. The location is fairly good, set back from the main road and close to the cable car. But when the ski lifts aren’t running, that nearby access doesn’t help much. Braunlage has seen better days, if it ever had them. Restaurants are mediocre, and shops are closed or bankrupt. It’s a shame, because the Harz Mountains can’t compete as a holiday destination.

We loved our long weekend here and will definitely come again. The welcome and communication were very friendly, and the apartment was spotless. It’s an idyllic spot with a stream running through the garden, while the Wurmberg cable car valley station is right behind the apartment. It’s also centrally placed for day trips.

It’s a lovely quiet spot, with town a short walk away and the Wurmberg cable car right next door. The balconies are a great size, and the apartment has everything you might need. I had my dog with me, so I especially appreciated the nice places to stroll just a few minutes away. A superb rental, highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back!

The modern kitchen was nice, but the dishwasher was too small for four people. We also had uninvited little visitors every evening. 🤨 The balcony was dirty and covered in cobwebs, and the view was only okay. Cleanliness needs a lot of improvement. I’d only recommend the apartment for two, since the sofa bed wasn’t suitable for a restful night.

I’ve stayed in several vacation apartments in the Harz Mountains over multiple visits, and they’ve all been bright and charming. The kitchens are fully equipped, which matters to me because I enjoy cooking. They look out onto the garden and the little stream behind it. The Braunlage location is excellent. In winter, the cable car is only a few minutes away on foot, so walking there with a snowboard is easy. In summer, there’s the bike park, and climbers and boulderers can reach the first crags with a 30-minute drive. After a full day, the on-site sauna is a great place to unwind. I highly recommend it and will be back soon.
