Hotel - Die Kleine Zauberwelt

After a lovely day in the mountains, my friends and I stopped for tea. It was a terrible idea. I assume this is an iconic place, but the older waitress was the worst I've encountered. Whenever we asked a question, she lectured us rudely. She also yelled at a child sitting nearby just because he tried to help her pick up the dirty dishes. When we wanted to order food, she handed us a tiny menu with only five options and a really unfriendly look. We noticed other customers had a bigger menu with more choices. Did she just not like us? We'd done nothing to upset her. The younger waitress was really nice and welcoming, but the older one made us feel so uncomfortable, as if she didn't want us there. She ruined our evening, and we're never coming back.

The kids can browse the selection of children's books if they get bored, and the cafe's cute decor is fun and child-friendly. Sadly, the food wasn't great. The soup was okay, but the 7,5-euro Brotzeit was just three pieces of dry bread with onion schmaltz and a small disc of very bad cheese. The cakes were average.

We’ve been to the hotel and restaurant several times over the past few years. The top-floor apartment works really well for families with kids, and the rooms and restaurant have an impressive fairy-tale feel, down to the details. The food is tasty. Some of the waitresses are unpleasant and don’t speak English, and the menu is only in German.

Ridiculous experience, 0/5. The elderly waitress was incredibly rude, including walking off when we paid without a thank-you or goodbye. We asked if we could have cake with our coffee, and she told us to get it at the bakery next door, which seemed to have the same owner. When we returned to our seats at ‘die kleine zauberwelt’ with our choices, they charged us an extra 70 cents for each piece of cake.
