We stayed for a week in Apartment 6 and had a great time. It was clean, beautifully furnished, and matched what we expected. The beach is only a short walk away, and the manager was very friendly. We’d happily come back.

A lovely conservatory opens off the living room. The holiday apartment is close to the beach, clean, and modernly furnished. The rooms are nicely decorated, and the modern beds were very comfortable and not worn out.

Sparrow's Nest (Apartment 2) I haven’t come away feeling this unrested after a vacation rental stay in a long time. I reported all the issues below to the owner through the apartment app beforehand, but haven’t had a reply. I’m posting them here now so future guests can be prepared. I’d also be glad to talk with rental owners who want to look at other properties for ideas they might put into practice to improve guests’ stays. Rest and quiet were hard to find in Apartment 2. There’s no sound insulation from Apartment 5 directly overhead, so every footstep seemed to reverberate through my skull. The road leading to the pier is noisy too, though we couldn’t hear the restaurant directly underneath the apartment. Getting fresh air was difficult. There are no windows in the apartment itself, only two balcony doors that open fully and can’t be tilted. The enclosed balcony, or “winter garden,” has four double windows. On each one, one section tilts and swivels, while the other only swivels. The tilting sections are 122 cm high and 88, 88, 99, and 100 cm wide. There are no fly screens, and flies and mosquitoes are drawn to the area above the restaurant. When there’s no wind, it’s hard to air out the apartment, though opening the windows all the way helps a little. After about four hours of sleep with one person in the bedroom, the air felt stale. Leaving the balcony door open just a crack kept the room from getting too bright from streetlights and neon signs, but it could let mosquitoes in. The bathroom and toilet have no windows either. Their fans are noisy and start blaring after a short time, when the lights come on because they’re connected to the ceiling light. The bathroom and toilet lights are so bright they make nighttime trips to the toilet unpleasant. The toilet is really only suitable for sitting to pee, otherwise water splashes onto your shins. The shower door leaks at the bottom hinge, the folding mirror has left marks on the wall, and frying oil from the restaurant drifts into the toilet. The sofa is completely worn out, and sitting on it for long is painful. Internet gets very slow when the apartment is full. The outside door handle wobbles and came loose after a few days of normal use. The bedroom pleated blind is broken, and the floors are badly scratched in places, especially in the living room. The dish towels were missing. After we reported it through the app, one had been left in the apartment while we were out. There are some positives: the beach is close, and the resort train stops right outside the building. The apartment is up just one step in the stairwell. Online services are available through the apartment app. After rain, sparrows bathe in a puddle on the roof in front of the balcony. Guest tips: Three flat plug-in lights with motion sensors could help for nighttime trips, one in the hall by the front door, one in the bedroom beside the door, and one in the bathroom to the right of the mirror. Bring two inexpensive adhesive fly screens, 122x200cm, to cover two double windows and keep out mosquitoes and flies. The second light switch in the kitchen controls the ceiling fan. Turn it off. For guests in apartments 5, 3, and 4: please shuffle across the floors, with no walking and absolutely no running between 10 PM and 6 AM. Your downstairs neighbors will thank you. Food tip: BBQ burgers at the "Altes Postamt" (Old Post Office), Wilhelmstraße 43. They’re very tasty, fresh, and filling. If it rains, take the resort train. A full circuit takes about 45 minutes. The dog beach is South Beach, and you can get there on the resort train.

We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend the apartment. The furniture is lovely, and the location is ideal for a city break, with everything in Sellin easy to reach on foot. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless. I took off one star because the living room wasn’t as clean. We dropped something and looked underneath and behind the sofa, and those areas needed cleaning too, dear cleaning service.
