ACHAT Hotel Bremen City

The location is great, just five to ten minutes from the historic centre, and the hotel is excellent value. The rooms look recently renovated and were in very good condition. Everything was very clean.

We had a clean, quiet garden room, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The spa is small, but its facilities are good. Great base for exploring the city, and we'd definitely stay again.

I stayed for two nights and was disappointed, especially with a 4.4 rating that feels misleading. The room had no air conditioning, just ventilation that didn't cool it down. The portable fan was loud and ineffective, so it wasn't good for resting or sleeping. There wasn't a coffee maker in the room either, which seems pretty basic for a hotel at this level. As a Gold member on the booking platform, I was meant to get a free drink each day, but the receptionist didn't explain where or how to claim it. Breakfast also fell short of what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel. At best, this place is average and doesn't deserve its high rating. I wouldn't recommend it, especially in warm weather.

The bed was comfortable, but that was about the only good part of my business trip stay. I arrived at 2:50 p.m. after more than 14 hours of travel. The male front desk worker said I'd need to wait until 3:00 for check-in, which was fair. At 3:15, I asked about the room and was told it would take another 10 to 15 minutes. By 3:45, I'd been waiting almost an hour with no update or apology, and was getting frustrated. I don't know if I was treated that way because I'm not local or don't speak German, but two other groups checked in and went straight to their rooms. A female front desk worker eventually found me another room and sorted it out in five minutes. She was very friendly, and I wish she'd helped from the start. No one offered to help bring my luggage upstairs, though I would have paid for that service. The room was supposedly ready, but the shower's body soap dispenser was broken, the hand soap was running low, and one toilet roll had only a few sheets left from the previous guests. The location is a 15 to 20 minute walk from major attractions, but the nearby streets didn't feel comfortable to walk alone in during the day. The gym doesn't open until 8:00 a.m., too late if you need an early start for business. After such a bad first impression, I was still willing to give the hotel another chance, hoping the room would make up for the wait. It didn't. For a work trip with a tight schedule, I'd pick another hotel in Bremen.
