Breakfast was excellent, with salmon and fruit, and the rooms have been newly renovated. The staff were friendly, and there’s free Wi-Fi everywhere. Reception sometimes has no one there in the evening, but your card lets you into the hotel at any time, and you can call if you need anything. I’d definitely recommend it.

For what it costs, it’s fair: the staff are kind, it’s clean, and the facilities cover the basic needs. The stairs up to the second floor are very steep. Also, the second-floor toilet is awkward for tall people.

Room 14 was a lucky find, with its own doorway straight into the breakfast room. It’s a lovely suite, and all the little comforts helped: free parking, a covered terrace outside with direct building access, lots of outlets, floor lamps for soft lighting, a roomy bathroom, carpet, three pillows, blackout curtains, a modern TV that’s easy to use, and mattresses I slept very well on. The team made the stay especially enjoyable too. Older and younger staff communicated smoothly with each other and with me, and nobody made things feel rushed. Breakfast was €15 per person. It was decent and the room felt cozy, though the selection was simple. If you’re after a traditional English breakfast, there weren’t baked beans, bacon, roasted tomatoes, or sausages.
