Pension Haus am Walde

Our room, number 9, was very clean, with a lovely river view and a comfortable bed. The host was friendly, and I’d stay here again. A heads-up: rooms are cash only, and checkout is at 10 am, not 11 like at most places. Breakfast included a soft-boiled farm egg, bread, freshly made jelly, coffee or tea, shop-bought juice, a small plate of meats and Swiss cheese, and a little fresh cheese spread. We had dinner at the old mill, about a ten-minute walk away. It was excellent, and I highly recommend it.

The booking was seamless, and the guesthouse is clean, well located, and comfortably furnished. We felt at home during our one-night stay and really enjoyed the house-made Horni wine. Thanks for the warm welcome. We’ll definitely come back.

The reception felt impersonal. At the front door, an access code was given quickly and incomprehensibly. Inside, there was a musty smell, as though the building isn’t occupied much. It seems like a former residence now rented to tourists as a sort of student accommodation. I slept well after a shower in a rather small enclosure. The breakfast buffet was standard. For a reasonable dinner, there’s a restaurant at the marina about a five-minute walk away.
