Forsthaus Heiligenberg

The restaurant service could be better, and there isn't an English menu. The hotel itself is lovely, with attractive modern rooms in small houses just a short walk apart. The food was good.

We came to look for Dressage Horses and were told to stay at Forsthaus Hotel. The location worked perfectly for us, and we loved the rooms, the gardens and nearby walking tracks. There were also other places to eat within walking distance. Breakfast and lunch were fabulous, and everyone on the hardworking staff was so friendly and accommodating. The laundry service was great too. We were sorry we couldn't extend our week because they were fully booked. We'll definitely stay here again.

The gardens and forest paths feel peaceful and timeless, and the terraces are beautifully put together. We have stayed four times over the past five years, for two to four nights each time, in different rooms and houses. The chic, modern rooms still let the historic architecture stand out. Service is attentive and well trained, and the menu is varied, fresh and locally sourced. Even the kids' menu is remarkable. We love this place and consider it the most exquisite rural 4-star hotel we know in Europe and the US. What a wonderful stay, we'll be back soon.

The rooms are nicely decorated, and I liked the old farmhouse style inside, though the place was very busy. The location is quiet and remote. The room power switch is odd because it cuts power to everything, including the TV, so you can't leave the TV on while falling asleep or watch with the lights on. Breakfast was okay, but when we arrived at 10:09, staff made a point of saying the buffet closed at 10:30. At 10:29, someone began clearing it. The bedding felt like ibis quality, which wasn't what I expected for 149€ a night in the middle of nowhere. The pillows and mattresses need an upgrade, and more pillows would help.
