The sauna and shared spaces were nice, and breakfast was good. The hotel’s best feature is its village location near the train station. Our basic bedroom had almost no bathroom shelving and a tiny shower. We also had a small meal and drinks at the restaurant, where service was extremely slow, and it’s closed some evenings. If I came back to Chiemsee, I wouldn’t plan to stay here.

The mattresses were badly worn, with springs pushing through, which was a shame. Still, the bathroom was great, the renovated room was good, and reception was friendly. There’s parking behind the building and breakfast was very good. We only stayed one night, but you could easily stay longer.

We cancelled in the end. We’d booked the room the hotel suggested for two adults and two kids, but after we changed the dates, they said it couldn’t fit all four of us and tried to make us pay for a bigger room. There are better options around.

The hotel was OK, with a good restaurant and breakfast. We booked two rooms, one meant to have twin beds and the other a large double, but both had two separate beds. In one room they were 20cm apart, while in the other they were pushed together. For some reason, I’ve found it impossible to get a normal large double bed in Germany, even at very expensive hotels. It’s always two separate mattresses pushed together. Also, the parking is described as being in a garage, but it’s actually a small lot in the yard.
