Bonprix Hotel

A decent stay with no issues. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a huge bed, a big TV, a chair, two tables, a radio and remote controlled air-con. The minibar had a couple of waters, Coca-Colas and other drinks, for an extra charge. It’s a straightforward place to sleep, with no bar or music. There’s a breakfast buffet, though I didn’t try it. I stayed during Euro2024. It’s quiet around the hotel because the area is mostly business buildings and warehouses, so there wasn’t noise from them outside normal working hours. There’s a McDonald’s, Subway and, randomly, an ‘erotica’ club up the road. The hotel sits by a roundabout on a main road into centre Cologne, and the surrounding area is industrial with no houses. It’s probably best if you’re driving. I used public transport. Brühl-Vochem tram station is a 20-minute walk away. Trams run every 20 minutes in both directions, and the trip to Cologne main station takes about 40 minutes. Tickets are available through the Deutsche Bahn App. Brühl-Kierberg train station is nearer the city, about 15 minutes from Cologne centre, but a 40-minute walk from the hotel. You can take a scooter from there, but the hotel is in a red zone, so you’d need to leave it 10 minutes away. A good fit for a work trip or an overnight stop.

We were in town for the Euros ⚽ and this was one of the few rooms available. The hotel was fine, but it felt like the middle of nowhere. We paid over $200 a night for our rooms.

The staff were lovely, breakfast was really good, and my room was clean. I enjoyed my weekend at the Bonprix Hotel. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the train station.

Don’t let the industrial estate put you off, we didn’t hear any noise. It’s a decent little hotel with easy check-in and check-out. Breakfast doesn’t have a huge selection.
