We loved sitting outside and watching the morning mist settle in the Hahnenbach valley, then the sunsets later on. The garden sauna has the same lovely view, and it’s a brand new Canadian cedar one. Inside, the apartment is quiet and self-contained, with its own entrance, a terrace, a high-spec kitchen, HD Samsung TV with free Netflix, free Wi-Fi, a lovely bathroom and a peaceful bedroom. It’s beautifully decorated and very well equipped. We had a wonderful stay. Thanks to Dominik and Carly for making us feel so welcome.

Schmidtburg was really nice, and the restaurant tips were much appreciated. We’d happily come back anytime, 10/10. You can also rent the private sauna in the garden, with a great view across the valley. Thanks for a great stay.

The view from the dining table is lovely, and the terrace is huge, with plenty of places to sit. There’s also a lawn and a barrel sauna with a panoramic window. We didn’t try it because it was too warm for me. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful, and we spotted birds of prey, including a red kite. We brought our three small dogs, and it worked really well. From the terrace you can cross the lawn straight into the field, where they could run about and do their business. Of course, you should always clean up after them. Inside, the apartment is cozy and tastefully furnished, with two charming bedrooms, a living and dining area, and a clean, well-equipped kitchen with everything needed for cooking and everyday basics. The bathroom is gigantic and has a shower. The place was clean and well maintained. There’s a comfortable leather couch and armchair, plus a flat-screen TV with free Netflix and free Wi-Fi. Carly and her husband were super friendly and helpful. They live upstairs, and when they’re around and you feel like chatting, nice conversations can happen.
