Achat Hotel Buchholz Hamburg

We drove for over an hour, then left without staying. My daughter wanted to swim and we were hoping for a relaxing night, so while we were in Kiel we searched Google for a hotel with a pool. The search showed us about 11 hotels with pools in Hamburg, and we chose this one. A polite man greeted us at the hotel, but when we asked about the pool he said it was closed. A woman came out and spoke to us in an uncomfortable way, saying it was out of order and that this was stated on the website. The Google photo showed the pool as open, and we had chosen the hotel because of it. When we asked why nobody had told us, she seemed angry, then said we could use it, but the water was cold and it was up to us. I don't recommend this hotel.

The check-in and check-out were quick, and the receptionist was helpful. The room and bathroom were clean, and the location is handy, about a 10-minute walk from Bahnhof. Still, the building, furniture, and decor all feel old. We had to keep the bathroom door shut because unpleasant waves of odor came from it even before we used it, probably when toilets were flushed in other rooms. Breakfast was below average, with little on offer and long waits for things to be replenished. I waited for the orange juice dispenser to be refilled, but it never was. The man working in the breakfast room looked very unhappy and served reluctantly, perhaps because the coffee machine was broken. It might do for one night on a business trip if there are no other options, but it didn't feel like what you'd expect from a four-star hotel. I know the star ratings are based on other criteria, some of which seem a bit irrelevant, like reception hours or having a table and chair in the room. Still, after hundreds of stays at different hotels, I'd give this one three stars.

The man at reception had said it was closed and that this was written on the website. We checked our reservation and found no such information. They lie and scam people. We want our money refunded, and wouldn't recommend anyone stay here.😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪

The room was clean, but the food was a big letdown. We were 27 people arriving very late, and they had promised to keep the buffet warm. It was hot, but there wasn't enough meatloaf, so four of us had to make do with the very good mushroom sauce and boiled potatoes. The vegetables were tasteless, probably from the freezer. They couldn't offer anything else. Breakfast was standard hotel fare, though the eggs were overcooked.
