Hotel Drei Kronen

On 22 August, 2024, we were bikepacking and glad there was somewhere to keep our bikes. We usually camp, so staying in a hotel felt like a bit of luxury for the night. The staff were very pleasant, dinner was excellent, and breakfast was satisfying, especially the German breakfast. After a good night's sleep, we set off on our bikes for Bamburg, where we slept in our tent. Thanks to the staff, from John in Australia.

There are better places to eat nearby for much less money. The meal quality felt like two-star, despite four-star prices. The beds were far too soft and uncomfortable, and the restaurant food was atrocious. Our soft drink was flat. When we tried to tell the waiter we were unhappy, he walked away before we could finish or say we wanted to pay and leave. Eventually we got his attention again, but he was rude and abrupt. A completely unpleasant experience.

The restaurant and bar have a terrace, tasty food that's mostly pork, two fish dishes, both char, and good beer. There's also a big screen for World Cup football. I stayed two nights at 48€ each. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, with blinds, though they lack some three-star equipment like a phone or fridge. It's a good option for a budget trip. One downside: menus, service information, and other signs are in German, and not all the staff speak English.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant served good food at a fair price. My room was large and comfortable, with a clean, spacious bathroom. There was plenty of free parking on the street. Recommended.
