Beachhouse Tossens

We've stayed here many times and will certainly come again. The VIP holiday home had everything we needed, with lovely furnishings and incredibly comfortable beds. We felt looked after and safe, and all COVID-19 rules were followed strictly. There were some initial problems with the heating, but they were fixed quickly, and we received a thoughtful apology gesture. The staff were very friendly. It was a wonderful little break in a difficult time.

I booked four days at Sonnenberg but left after two. The sloping ceiling was unbearable, and I hadn't expected to be put in an attic room on the second floor with no elevator. At 79, I had to carry our suitcases upstairs myself. Do staff take guests' ages into account when assigning rooms? I definitely wouldn't recommend it 🤬

The house is in an excellent location, but the accommodation had several unpleasant problems, and the service wasn't worth the price. The built-in dishwasher was broken and smelled extremely bad. The TV couldn't be used because there was no working antenna, and one windowpane in the otherwise lovely, somewhat dated living area was cloudy. This isn't what I'd expect from a rental at this price. Our complaint was handled very poorly both on site and by email. It's a shame, because there's plenty of room to improve.

The location, amenities, and parking right outside were great, and the owners were very friendly to deal with. The house had a lot going for it, but the cleaning was a serious letdown. There were spiders and dust bunnies in every corner, under the bed was a nightmare, and cheese was left on a chair by the previous guests. The access path was a little overgrown too. The owners aren't responsible for the cleaning, since a management company handles it. It seems the management has changed, but they don't appear to care much about cleanliness or service. The final cleaning fee is DEFINITELY not justified. We ordered a baby cot by phone, then had to find it and assemble it ourselves, which we think should be part of the service. With basic cleaning improved, this would be a five-star stay. As it is, the fantastic location and amenities still make it highly recommendable for a lovely time on the North Sea coast.
