Hotel an der Oper

I found the location ideal, close to the train station, good restaurants, and nightlife. The hotel was very clean, and the service was friendly and helpful. We had an excellent stay!

The location is ideal for a city break, and the renovated hotel has spacious, very clean rooms. The family rooms are suite-like, and pets are welcome. Rooms facing the parking area are quiet. There were a few letdowns: the shampoo had run out and the dispenser was empty, while room service food was overpriced. Breakfast was okay but not special for a four-star hotel. There were few fruit and vegetable options, no sweet bread such as croissants, and some items like salmon weren't replenished if you arrived before 9. Overall, I recommend it, but I don't think the value matches the price, especially with outdoor parking charged separately.

The rooms were clean and okay, and the service was friendly, though it could have been more efficient. The waiter knew limited German and brought the wrong dish, but handled the correction politely and right away.

The view from the fifth floor over the square and opera building is great, and the center and places like the Karl Marx statue are within a 10-minute walk. My single room wasn't large, but it was comfortable enough to work in for a few hours, with good free WiFi. The bath was clean and properly equipped. The building looks almost communistic, but the inside has been nicely renovated. There's parking at the back with two Tesla destination chargers. Staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. At breakfast they serve you even though it's a buffet, and the food is very good and complete. The bar is standard, with a good choice of drinks and some food. I'd definitely recommend it for a visit to Chemnitz.
