Hotel Karl Müller

What stood out most was how attentive the staff were. I needed to keep medication refrigerated, and the kitchen staff were amazing about it. Hotel manager Philip Foerderer went above and beyond with restaurant suggestions, taxi bookings, and helping me get oriented to the city's attractions. I felt like he was my personal host. The hotel is along the Mosel near the main attractions, yet it was quiet at night despite the touristy area. Our beds were very comfortable, and the warm comforters were welcome during the rainy weather. Breakfast was among the best I’ve had while traveling in Germany, with plenty to choose from, including yogurt, muesli, cold meats, scrambled eggs, fried bacon, and sausage.

The restaurant terrace is a great spot to eat in Cochem, with a good menu and a perfect location. We had a wonderful view of the river from our room, and the hotel’s location is unbeatable. Management and staff made us feel very welcome and gave excellent service. Our three nights at Hotel Karl Muller were faultless.

My stay at the Karl Muller hotel was disappointing. The room had the essentials, but was already too hot when I arrived. There was a fan, though it barely helped, and even with the window open, the room wouldn’t cool when the air outside dropped to around 10-15 degrees. The bed was uncomfortable enough that my back started hurting halfway through the night. I could hear every movement and conversation from the neighbors through the very thin walls. The shower pressure was abysmal, its controls took some force to move, and the bathroom door didn’t lock. Breakfast was okay, nothing special, and service was a bit slow because it was busy. Check-in was fine, but the automated system wasn’t flawless and staff had to help sometimes, which made it less efficient. The elevator is comically small, fitting only two people. The stairwell is the other option, but nearly impossible with a heavy suitcase or bag. They do have parking in a garage about five minutes away; it’s a little annoying, but leaving bags in the lobby helps.
