18Arts Hotel - Living in a Gallery!

The location right in the city center was very good, but the room was cold. There isn't a breakfast room, so breakfast is arranged with another hotel about 200 m down the street. Also, the building has four floors and no elevator, and nobody helped us get our luggage up to the bedroom.

The room was comfortable, clean, and nice to look at. The shower had hot water, and the bed was firm. I had a great stay at the 18Arts Hotel. Keep in mind that there is no lift, so it may not suit anyone with limited mobility.

Getting into the hotel and room was straightforward with the wireless entry sent to our phone, and the location is handy for walking to Hauptbahnhof. The street is lively, with an Irish pub and various clubs and restaurants opposite, but we found our room quiet. The decor was pleasant and original, the bed comfortable, and there were tea and coffee facilities plus a TV and radio. The radio worked only on the first night. We were in Room13, which was almost en-suite, though really more open plan. There was no door between the bedroom and the facilities. My partner and I have been close for over 50 years, but using the toilet within spitting distance of each other was a new experience neither of us wants to repeat soon. A sliding door would help, or maybe free gas masks and earplugs!

The bathroom was really pretty, and we liked the showers a lot. The staff were kind and pleasant, and made us feel welcome. The rooms had interesting designs, though honestly the 'tatort' room was boring, with all-white walls and furniture that seemed better at catching your head and shins than being useful. It got very hot at night; air conditioning would have been welcome, though the fan was okay.
