404-Hostel

The facilities and location may have their merits, but the way the owner treated us overshadowed them. My girlfriend and I felt there was very little warmth or concern for our comfort, and the whole stay left us disappointed. Whenever we asked a question or made a request, the response was rigidly focused on the rules. There was no effort to suggest an alternative or work out a solution, and we felt more like employees than paying guests. The owner came across as robotic, with little empathy or flexibility. At a hostel, I’d expect someone approachable who’s willing to make guests feel welcome. That wasn’t our experience at Hostel 404. We hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves how it handles guest relations. Our stay was marked by a lack of hospitality, empathy, and flexibility, and I hope future guests have a better time.

It’s a shame I have to leave after just one night. I’ve really enjoyed my stay, and this is the best hostel I’ve ever had the privilege of staying in. It has a relaxed feel and keeps things simple, while still being surrounded by everything you need. The city center is a short, direct walk away. The service deserves 6 out of 5 stars. No reason to wait until checkout to write this.

A quiet, laid-back spot that works really well for small groups wanting somewhere clean and friendly. The bathrooms were spotless, and the beds were clean and already made. Our room had no bunk beds and plenty of power outlets. A lockable chest was included in the price. Breakfast was free, simple, and enough to do the job. The hostel is quaint and close to a good public transport line.

There are only around 12 beds, so the place feels well suited to travelers looking for something a bit off the beaten path. It’s in a safe, quaint neighborhood, with easy parking and a short ride into the town center. The kitchen is very well equipped, the rates are reasonable, and there are plenty of amenities. It’s a clean, quiet, welcoming hostel in Cologne, and I’d recommend it. A real gem.
