Centro Hotel Arkadia

The rooms vary a lot even though they cost the same, and they don't look like the photos. Our walls had lots of stains, the mattresses were very hard, and the thin walls and doors meant we could hear everything outside. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. It's fine if you're after a cheap hotel, but I wouldn't recommend it.

There was no staff in the building to ask for help. For check-in and check-out, you have to go to another hotel on that street. The room was an attic where you could barely walk around or turn over in bed. There was no fridge or air conditioning, and even with the windows open all night, it stayed hot. There was no elevator either, just crazy stairs. This was the worst hotel experience I've had so far. I can't really call it a hotel.

Months after we booked and paid to secure a room, knowing hotels would be fully booked, the hotel cancelled our reservation without giving a reason. The place they recommended was already full. Customer service was awful: they either hung up on us or refused to talk, sending only copied-and-pasted automated messages. They returned our money as a voucher usable only at their hotels, which were fully booked. If we cancelled the voucher, we'd get only 10% of our money back. They offered no compensation. I suspect they sold our reservation to someone else, though I can't know for sure. They took our money, cancelled our booking, and left us with nowhere to stay. Staying here is a risk; I found them dodgy and untrustworthy and recommend finding another hotel.

The neighbourhood is quiet, and the centre is just 5 minutes away by tram. Parking in front of the hotel is free, and I'd come back. The hotel was very nice, with new equipment and a good price. Check-in was easy, the breakfast buffet had tasty food, and the room was clean.
