Garner Hotel Cologne - Engelbertz

Getting around was easy: the famous cathedral and central station are within walking distance, and the pedestrian walkway outside was so quiet that we slept very well. The curtains kept the light out, and the beds were soft and comfortable. The whole house sparkled, including our clean room and bathroom. We also booked the simple breakfast buffet, with boiled and scrambled eggs, sausages, bread and rolls, cereal, and fruit. Coffee came from an automatic machine, and tea was available too. Every interaction with staff was pleasant. I'd come back.

We had friendly, helpful staff and a decent-sized room by European standards. The hotel is very well placed for walking to Cologne Cathedral, Fatima House Eau de Cologne Museum, and Chocolate Factory. There's also a good Italian pizza restaurant across the street. Breakfast cost extra. It wasn't cheap, but it was good. Parking was less convenient: the lot is about 100 yards down the street, so you'll need to plan a luggage drop-off if you have lots of bags. It cost €20 per 24 hours, cash only. The elevator was out of service for part of our stay, which made getting luggage downstairs harder. I'd recommend the hotel if you want to be near the main sights.

The location is the best in the city, and the staff were pleasant and helpful, especially Ivan and Karim. I really liked the room, though I missed having water, tea, and coffee on the table. Thanks, guys, and I hope to see you again soon.

Breakfast was fresh and had a decent range of options, and the staff were so kind to me. I enjoyed my stay. The train station and cathedral were about a five to ten minute walk away. My room was perfect, though a little hot without AC. Luckily, they thoughtfully provided a fan.
