Haus Enteresan

The room inspection found nothing, since my friend had never entered the building. Even so, the owner seemed unconvinced. I offered to call my friend in front of him because I felt helpless and didn't want to be put out on the street alone late at night, but he refused. In the end he apologized carefully and said he'd had a bad experience the week before. I felt for him, but told him I had nothing to do with that and that this was a horrible situation. My privacy had been invaded, and I was already in bed trying to sleep. This all began during my one-night stay at the studio. A friend who lives in Cologne stopped by briefly while we were outside on the street, before we planned to go into the city center. He just wanted to use the toilet for a couple of minutes. The owner appeared at the door and said that was absolutely forbidden. I couldn't understand why, especially since he had mentioned watching the cameras and could see my friend would leave within five minutes. My friend ended up using the toilet in the owner's closed restaurant instead. It was late, and he mainly wanted to say hello while I was in Cologne, so we agreed to meet another time. We chatted outside briefly, then I went back to my room alone and went to bed. Around half an hour later, I heard someone in the hallway outside my door. There was no knock and no talking. Since there weren't any other rooms on that floor, and the owner had already acted oddly and suspiciously, I strongly suspected it was him. I felt uncomfortable and unsafe, but didn't know what to do, so I ignored it. Another half hour later he knocked loudly and demanded I come downstairs, threatening to call the police. I was completely confused: my friend had never come inside, which the owner could have checked on his cameras, as he himself had said. He searched every corner of my room, the terrace, the bathroom, and even behind the doors. I reported what happened to Booking.com. When they contacted him about compensation, he made claims that were completely false: that I'd left the room messy, that towels were missing, and that the bed had been “used.” I had used one towel to shower and had even made the bed neatly before leaving. I stayed one night and slept under the duvet, so of course the bed had been used. There was only one single-person duvet on a double bed, too. He also said I wanted visitors in the studio, which isn't true. My friend stood outside the door briefly and never entered the building. At first I sympathized with the owner because he said he'd had a bad experience before. I initially asked for compensation only so his overall rating wouldn't be harmed. But after his dishonest and exaggerated account of me, I decided to write this review. I understand that a studio booked for one person isn't meant to let others use it, but letting someone use the toilet for two minutes hardly seems like a serious breach. He apparently sees it differently and is twisting the whole story. I'm very disappointed. I was treated with suspicion for no reason, my privacy was violated, and now he's making false claims instead of taking responsibility. What should have been a simple night in Cologne became a stressful and unsafe stay for me as a solo guest.
