Breakfast was included and decent, with German bread rolls, ham, cheese, jam, yogurt, cereal, and fruit. There’s also a beer garden next door with a fair food selection and quick service. The room was clean and warm, with a comfortable bed and hot shower, and the German-style windows blocked most of the nearby highway noise. Still, it wasn’t the quietest spot. The check-in was almost entirely self-service: nobody was at reception, so I had to call, and was given an access code. I was lucky to find someone who helped me. The room could use a few basics, like more than three TV channels, air conditioning, and a safe. The worst part was the shampoo and shower gel: tiny single-use paper sachets, right there in the shower. For a quick, basic stopover it’s fine, but it’s definitely not a luxury stay.

The staff were incredibly helpful and even booked a taxi for early morning, making sure it arrived on time. They were so lovely, and I can’t thank them enough. When we arrived, the hotel felt a little spooky at night, though I understand why they don’t leave the lights on all night.

We only stayed one night because complications meant we couldn’t travel home to Holland, and it turned an already miserable evening into a worse one. There was no reception when we checked out, and the same man who seemed to be the manager didn’t ask how the stay was. When we told him how unhappy we felt, he replied irritably that the €100 was for the bed and showed no compassion. I still have no idea what we paid for beyond that, certainly not the service, location, or facilities. The room had no soap, refrigerator, or air conditioning. Because of the heat we had to sleep with the window open, and tennis courts right below it woke us at 8. The noise continued until after we left, so we couldn’t wake up rested. At check-in, the receptionist said the Wi-Fi was broken and suggested we use the restaurant, saying it would stay open for a while. Half an hour later it was closed, and he gave us a small glass of beer as compensation. If the room had cost less, we wouldn’t have complained and might have thought it reasonable, but at that price we were unhappy. We’ll never stay here again.

I slept badly here. The Autobahn was very close, and guests fought noisily in the hallway in the middle of the night. When I politely asked them to stop at 3:30 AM, they scoffed at me. The room was small for the price, and the Wi-Fi was slow, at 5.5 Mbps down and 0.5 Mbps up. The staff were reasonably friendly, but I wouldn’t stay again.
