INA Hotel Royal

We stayed just one night at Ina Hotel Royal, and the way it ended completely spoiled our trip. We have two young children, aged 3 and 8, but the male staff member showed us no basic courtesy. He shouted at us, refused to listen, and wouldn’t call the woman who had given us permission the day before. We felt unwelcome and disrespected, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to families or anyone expecting basic hospitality. At check-in, a female staff member had said we could leave our car until 2 PM the next day, even though checkout was at 11 AM. She also told us we could leave our luggage in the luggage room after checkout and go for a city walk, which was our plan. After breakfast, we checked out around 10 AM and reminded the staff that we’d leave the car until 2 PM as agreed. A different male staff member then insisted we move it straight away. The staff need to communicate with each other and treat guests with more respect. That inconsistency and poor service were unacceptable.

The staff were super friendly and spoke English fluently. We had a comfortable stay in a spacious three-person room, with clean bathrooms and a good breakfast at a good price. It’s also well located, very close to Hansaring Bahnhof. For the room price, I would have liked a mini fridge and microwave, but otherwise it was good.

The location is good, the staff are friendly, and breakfast is ordinary. They kindly held our luggage, but there’s no early check-in under any circumstances. Housekeeping was a letdown: towels weren’t changed, the soap ran out and wasn’t refilled, and someone unlocked the door without knocking. For what the rooms offer, it’s expensive, and the place needs maintenance.

Breakfast in the cellar was tasty, with local cooked food as well as traditional European dishes, and the service was pleasant. Our room was clean and very comfortable, with two single beds pushed together. It was large, and the shower room was spacious, though there was a step up into the shower cubicle. We were on the ground floor, just along from the small reception, where the staff were very polite and friendly. From outside, it wasn’t obvious that this was a hotel.
