Köln City Apartments

Getting in was easy: the owner sent a code, so there was no reception to deal with. The tram is nearby, and there are lots of shops around, including a Kiosk, hair dresser, postal service, and brauhause. The one-room apartment has its own bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering. There’s a nice dining table and lounge, a large, super-comfy king bed, and heaters in both the room and bathroom. Great value and location. Highly recommended.

We felt right at home in this small apartment, which was perfectly fine for a weekend city break. Restaurants nearby are great, and the tram stop is easy to reach. Before check-in, we got a really helpful message that answered all our questions. Just one small downside: you can’t air out the apartment from the living area.

That musty, damp basement smell when you first walk in was the worst part. You stop noticing it after a while, but it’s still disgusting. We were there for two nights, and it was okay otherwise. The place is central, with tram connections, and we liked the peace and quiet since no staff were pushing themselves on us. No check-in either, just a PIN code sent by message. The bathroom was rather dark because its only light worked on one side. There are no windows in the apartment, just skylights. The bedroom skylight squeaks extremely loudly, which could bother people opening it in the evening. The kitchen skylight opens with a broken handle, and you can’t get fresh air when it’s raining, so if it’s warm, tough luck. The kitchen faucet was completely loose and hard to use.

The place was clean, well equipped, and had everything I could need. The location was good too. No complaints, and I’ll stay there again on my next trips to Cologne.
