The room stays cool even in midsummer because it faces north, and the house is only 50 meters from a very quiet riverside road where just a few local vehicles pass now and then. It's opposite Cochem Castle. After a busy day, getting a glass of Moselle wine from a nearby vending machine and sitting on a bench by the river with that view is fantastic. The room itself, with a bed, wardrobe, table, chair, and sink, was fine, and the place was very clean. I got a room at short notice for very little money, a rate that would usually be many times higher in touristy Cochem. If price is all that matters, it could work, but I wouldn't choose it for a relaxing holiday. The bathroom is the big problem. The shower and toilet are squeezed into a space of barely two square meters, so drying off is difficult and you have to watch your step getting out of the shower. Sitting on the toilet means being careful not to hit your head on the door. I'm not 6'3", either. Leaving the door open is the only solution, which may be fine in a single room but rather defeats the point. Breakfast was another letdown. The tiled mini dining room is noisy and fits only three tables, with space for seven people. It makes you want to leave quickly, especially since the selection is very limited and never changes. During my five-day stay, the room wasn't vacuumed, the trash wasn't emptied, and the towels weren't changed once. It seems rooms are only cleaned between guests.

The landlady is very attentive and serves a good breakfast in three stages, since the breakfast room only fits three tables. The rooms are small but clean. This little guesthouse is across the Moselle from Cochem's town center, and it's a good base for excursions in any direction. The parking area in front holds only four cars. If it's full, you have to find a spot outside where there's no parking meter.

The owner was always very helpful, but we had to change rooms once during our five-day stay. The rooms are small but adequate, and the advertised Wi-Fi was unreliable. Breakfast was very limited, with something missing all the time.

We'd happily return, and maybe we'll see each other again. Our thanks to Mrs. Anka and her husband. The friendly service, cleanliness, and excellent breakfast made the trip worthwhile, and there was always free parking.
