The property is large and tucked well away from the main roads. We were impressed by the spacious room and how friendly the owners were. We had only been looking for a place to sleep during our drive through northern Germany, but the plentiful breakfast with lots to choose from set us up well for the next day. We might stay longer next year and get away from big-city life in such a lovely setting.

The site is very isolated, reached by rough roads, and we were the only campers there. Nearby dogs barked constantly, a peacock screamed, and the emus made plenty of noise too. The showers and toilets were clean but dated. You can only shower during the day. If there are guests in the house, showers aren't allowed in the evening. We got a polite, friendly welcome, but the price felt too high for what the site offers. You're meant to leave before 10 a.m., and the power goes off at 9:30.

We were the only campers at Gross Methling, so there was plenty of room, and it felt like a breath of fresh air after a short stay in crowded Usedom. Hans and Joke ten Voorde welcomed us warmly and were wonderfully hospitable when we spent a week at their small campsite in early September 2021. It's in the village of the same name, about 60 kilometers south of Rostock, in the former East Germany. The quiet village has farmland and lots of nature nearby, with good options for walking and cycling. Some roads and paths still have an “East German” feel, which has its own charm. There were unusually many cranes that autumn, making the week a treat, and I imagine spring is beautiful too. The landscape is striking and geologically interesting. It's admirable that Hans and Joke, despite their age, keep the sanitary facilities tidy and clean while also running a B&B and continually developing and maintaining the property. We were surprised so few campers have found this wonderful place.

The house number is 29, not 30, though the owners are changing that. The owners are Dutch and very communicative, so if their dialect is hard to understand, listen closely. They were friendly and helpful, and the property was clean and well maintained. It's a quiet, secluded spot. 😊😉

I felt very comfortable here. The location is quiet, the room was spotless, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. Everything seemed arranged for guests' comfort. There was plenty of parking, and breakfast was good and generous. Everything was just right. Thanks again, I'd gladly return.
