The rooms are comfortable and quiet, and the staff are friendly and willing to help if anything comes up. The location works well for both the city centre and local transport. Breakfast has a great variety and is excellent. The internet in the room was rather weak.

There was a stain on the toilet seat, and the toilets in both rooms smelled throughout all 3 nights. The service was unfriendly, or maybe racist, I don’t even know where to start. We requested room cleaning for one day only, but staff came in the afternoon while we were all inside. Then at 8:40 am, they knocked again while we were getting ready to leave, even though checkout was at 11 am. Strange timing. The rooms had nothing besides bed linen, so you have to pay for water or Tee. I don’t understand how this simplicity gets a 3-star rating. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We got a room on the top floor when we arrived at The Darmstadt Hotel at about 5:30pm. From there, we could see Darmstadt city centre on the horizon, with the view unobstructed to a certain extent. They also welcomed us with a small glass of Darmstadter, a beer from the local brewery. Loved it. A day before check-in, I got confirmation and a check-in QR code from the hotel's own website. But when I arrived, reception was extremely unfriendly and said they couldn’t find my booking. They offered a cheap hostel room at a very high price. It was late and I was tired after a long trip, so I had to accept. Never again.

They’re very kind here, and we felt welcome as soon as we arrived. The rooms were clean and had everything needed, especially for the price. Dogs are welcome too. Parking is very reasonably priced, though getting into the garage is a tight squeeze.
