Weingut Knauer

The Knauer family were so hospitable, and the whole stay was excellent value. We’d booked both rooms in this charming traditional family winery. They were clean and inviting, and the hosts handled our spontaneous requests quickly and competently. Breakfast was delicious and had everything we needed to start the day well.

We especially enjoyed the excellent service, from the warm welcome through to departure. Mrs. Knauer gave us a spontaneous wine tasting and a tour of the winery, which we really appreciated. Breakfast was lovingly prepared for the two of us in the wine tavern; we agreed on what we wanted and the time the evening before, and the service was first-class. The white and rosé wines were excellent, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of Franconian wine. Blanc de Blanc was our summer favorite. The two guest rooms made for a wonderfully quiet stay, with comfortable beds and everything we needed. They were lovely and clean. The location was excellent, just a short walk to the town center and the Main River, and there’s a cozy courtyard where you can enjoy a glass of wine straight from the winemaker when the weather’s nice. Dettelbach was well worth visiting. Tip: on summer weekends there’s a wine tasting station in the sculpture park, and the walk along the city wall is nice. Five stars for value. Highly recommended.

We were warmly welcomed by the hostess and had a very clean room during our two nights at the winery. The central location was quiet, and there was parking on site. Breakfast was excellent, and we could taste and buy delicious wines. We’ll be back soon.

Mrs. Knauer prepared a generous breakfast that got the day off to a good start, and we learned a lot about the winemaker's work during our pleasant few days with the winemaking family. We stayed in a well-equipped room in the winemaker's house and were very satisfied. The bathroom was a little small, but we got used to it after a few days. We’d gladly come back.
