The rooms were clean and tidy, and breakfast had lots to choose from. The coffee was the best I've ever had. A good hotel, one I'd recommend.

The internet was so slow I had to post this from home. The hotel doesn't even have a Yelp listing, so I made one myself. This really isn't good enough. The place itself is lovely, with a vintage feel, spacious rooms, and a very careful refurbishment. It's also extremely clean. I wanted to love it, especially since my scholarship project runs for at least a year and I'll be back in the area many times. But I'll look for another hotel next time. I'm here to visit students in my #karpademy scholarship project, and Daniela, in Finsterwalde, Germany, picked this hotel for the weekend. She didn't know when I'd arrive, so she went to collect the key for me. Lucky her, because every time I got here, even around 7:30 pm one evening, the place was locked up. The night entrance is around the block, with no sign to point it out. Finding room #03 was another adventure. We checked the ground floor first, but there was no room there. The first-floor rooms had no labels, and after midnight I was too nervous to try the key in every door. It didn't fit, so I checked upstairs and found the room on the second floor. Guests should be told that the rooms start there. There's no lift, either. At reception, nobody smiled, and I felt like I was in the way when I asked about breakfast. The coffee had been sitting out for hours, and the eggs were stone cold. The woman in charge was loudly washing dishes in the kitchen next door or coming and going with a mop, leaving the door open. I got up and quietly shut it, and got a look as if to ask what on earth I wanted. The kitchen was being cleaned again as I wrote this, and it was loud and smelled awful. It's a shame, because the hotel is really, really nice, and whoever handled the design did a great job before day-to-day reality set in.
