Residenz Albatros

This was our third autumn booking here, and we always feel right at home. The apartment has everything we need, so we've never found ourselves short of anything. Booking is easy, and the landlord is consistently very friendly to deal with.

The landlord was a great help, and the whole family was pleased with the apartment, which had all we needed. We've already stayed there twice. Sadly, Covid meant we had to cancel our third short break. After spending the day at the beach, the pool and sauna were lovely places to unwind. Thank you!

From the balcony, you can see both the sea and the dike, and the beach is only a few minutes' walk away. Those were real positives, but the construction noise made the week in apartment 22 hard to enjoy. We expected work during the day, yet the pumps could be heard around the clock. The bedroom window faces the site, so it was especially disruptive. The apartment has many of the things you'd expect in a holiday rental, but it feels very dated. Some items were low quality, not fully clean, and musty smelling. The basic cleaning needs to be much more thorough in an apartment this old. There was dust and food crumbs in the kitchen cupboards, and we had to wash the dishes and cutlery before using them. The coffee maker still had grounds in it, the kettle needs descaling, and the outside of the shower cubicle was dusty. The hairdryer barely pushed out air, and it was extremely hot, with dust clogging the vents. There was white residue at the bottom of the toothbrush cups. Hopefully it was just cleaning product. During our stay the dining table lamp came loose and crashed onto the table. The caretaker then removed it. The very old oven also took an extremely long time to heat. The bed linen had a strong detergent or fabric softener smell, and neutral, odorless linen would have been nicer. The double bed was noticeably narrower than the usual 1.80 x 2 meters, even though it had two single mattresses. Wi-Fi was pretty weak too. These may seem like small things, but together they made our stay unpleasant.

Everything else was very good, but the missing internet caused a real problem for my son and me. We had an online course in the evening and couldn't study. Booking.com showed internet access when I booked, but after I paid, I got a message saying it wasn't available.
