Villa Caldera

Breakfast made a superb impression: the staff welcomed us warmly, and the room was spotless with a great layout. There was a wide selection, and we really enjoyed it. Room 7 was small but charming, with everything we needed, including a coffee machine, kettle, and TV; the bathroom was small but perfectly equipped for us. Open the balcony door and the North Sea is right there. The house is near the dike, and Cuxhaven is an easy walk away, lovely for exploring with a cup of tea or coffee. We stayed from December 14th to 17th, 2025, for my aunt’s 90th birthday, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. The house felt cozy, and after walking up the wooden stairs, we found it simply beautiful. The layout made us feel as if we’d been there many times before. We’re certain we’ll stay here again on our next visit.

The breakfast rolls were bone dry, and when I asked for a cappuccino, I got the very curt response, “We only have coffee or tea...” It could have been put more politely. Another guest’s complaint was brusquely dismissed with the explanation that the manager wasn’t there that day. The hotel itself is a lovely little place, with charming rooms and modern bathrooms, right on the dike. It’s about 30 minutes from the city center.

The breakfast was plentiful and tasty, and the cozy room had a charming feel, with pretty floral dishes. The whole team were friendly and helpful, and the host shared lots of useful tips. My Economy Single Room was nicely furnished and had everything I needed, including a very comfortable bed and a large flat-screen TV. There was even a capsule coffee machine with complimentary capsules, plus a kettle, and the minibar prices were very reasonable. I looked out onto a beautiful garden with a big walnut tree and small tables and chairs. It was very quiet, with no noisy guests. After some bad experiences at other hotels and guesthouses in Cuxhaven, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I arrived a little before check-in and a friendly woman welcomed me in, gave me my key fob, and quickly explained the important details. Thanks for the great service, and see you next time!

The bathroom was OK, but the room only gets 2 stars because the beds were an absolute disaster. The owner should have replaced them 10 years ago!
