Goldener Hirsch Donauwörth

We love eating here. There’s a good range of genuinely delicious Bavarian German food, and the staff are nice and friendly. It’s busy much of the time, so it’s better to reserve for events. You can take leftover food in a Tupperware box, then get 10 euros back when you return it.

We went several times during our stay. The Kaiserschmarrn is the best in town!

The restaurant is the main attraction here. The ingredients are outstanding and turned into great food, which explains why the place is often full of locals. The staff are very friendly and do a great job. The hotel rooms are very clean, but at least mine wasn’t suited to a longer stay, maybe one or two nights at most. Breakfast was good quality, with a sufficient choice of fresh items. I’d recommend the restaurant, less so the hotel.

My wife’s goulash was even better than my good Schweinsbraten, and the food was superbly prepared. The menu lists the farms and farmers who produce the meat, which is always a good sign of quality. The kids’ menu was so amusing it almost made me want children again! We had excellent service, friendly and quick, and they treated a non-German Scot wonderfully. It was our first evening back in Bavaria this year, and what luck to find Goldener Hirsch. Excellent meal. I highly recommend it.
